Statement Regarding the Use of the name Bouvette
by Metis Artist, Ayla BOUVETTE

Seperator based on Woodland Indian Beadwork Design

My Mother's birth last name was not from a Native, is not suitable
My Grandma's birth last name was BOUVETTE from a METIS father

My Great Grandma's birth last name was not from a Native, is not suitable
My Gr-Great Grandma's Family was
NATIVE BC INDIAN BACK TO THE BEGINNING
...they had no "last name" to use.

So the only suitable last name in my heritage is the Metis name BOUVETTE.

Back

NOT a Wannabee..

"I am not a "Wannabee".
I am accepting myself just as I am:
a person with North American Native Heritage
who is therefore Indigenous to this continent."

Yes:
There are people who look more "Native".
There are people who live more "Native".

But none of that changes what I am.
I am Native here as well.

My Ancestors have been here for
thousands upon thousands of years.
No government can change what I am.

I am proud to be what I am.
Just like anyone else.
