 (see info below image)
bouvette_metis_art_bear_healing_spirit.jpg
The Spirit Bears live on an Island off the Central Coast of British Columbia, 1/10 of them have the beautiful color seen in the photo to the right above. The Native First Nation People of the area hold this Bear to be Sacred. The first time I heard about them and saw a photo, I cried. If I could travel, I would go to be near such a bear, to breathe the air she breathes and eat the same berries and salmon. I feel a strong sense of family with this Bear. Odd isn't it? And yet, I am a direct female line Descendant of a women from that part of Turtle Island. Perhaps this is my lost clan? As a person of Native American Heritage,I wait patiently to have my clan revealed to me, One day I will know. If you know the true name of this bear, please write and tell me. The "white guys" named it after one of their own (Kermode), that isn't the name I want to know. This painting shows the Heart Symbol I use to emphasize that all life is the same life, though we carry different spirits, we are all related. The little dots above are spirits around him and around us all.
