This painting shows the Red River
Cart which the Metis used to carry goods. On the Buffalo Hunt these Red
River Carts carried 800 pounds of Buffalo Meat in each cart wagon. The
Chippewa of the Pembina Area, and Other Native American People also
used
these carts and shared in the Yearly Buffalo Hunt. My own Great Great
Grandfather ran freight in these wagons across the Prairies. This is a
Symbol of the Metis People of the Red River and the Pembina Area.
