As the ice forms along the wave crests on the St. Mary's River, winter is moving in, this bird rises up near Sugar Island in Sault Ste. Marie, and carries away the last of Autumn warmth on his wings. The Heart Symbol I use to show life is the same in all living things is clearly visible in this Metis Art Painting. For thousands upon thousands of years, the Native American, Anishnabe, Ojibwe people have watched the seasons change here along the water. I am one witness to wheel of time here. In my Art I try to embody the spirit of my Native American Ancestors, and to show my own reactions as a living being here now. I have learned by studying Morrisseau and others, but I go my own way, with a love of color and rhythm.
